The Japanese name comes from the yellow-green color of the female body. The male has a gradation of yellow, green, and blue from the tail to the head, and the head has a reddish-purple shaded pattern. The pectoral fins are yellow at the base and blue at the tips.
Ecology
Found in shallow waters of coral reefs and rocky reefs. It preys on small animals near the coral reef near the seabed. They are not very cautious, and they don't care much even if you get close to them.
Habitat
Hachijojima Sokodo Beach
It is the most conspicuous fish when swimming in Sokodo Beach. It was going back and forth over the coral reef. Even when I dived and brought the camera closer, it didn't run away, but rather came closer. He seems curious.
