Characteristics
It has fine bright yellow spots on its white body. Body length is about 10cm. The pectoral fins are dark brown, and there is a dark brown to purple part near the pectoral fins. The mouth patch appears reddish-purple.
Ecology
Inhabits sandy areas near coral reefs. It is thought that they coexist in pits dug by giant shrimps and the like.
It sticks half of its body out of the hole to see what's going on outside, and when it senses danger, it retreats into the hole.
Habitat
Ishigaki Island
Taken while diving in Ishigaki Island. About 10m deep. I was able to take a picture because it did not run away even when I hit the light and stayed still. Its translucent body had bright yellow spots.
