Ecology

They live in forests on flatlands and mountains and eat insects. It moves like a flycatcher jumping out of a branch and catching prey in the air. They do not form flocks and often move alone. Breeding in Japan is done in high altitude broadleaf forests, and forms territory during this time.

Habitat

It perched on a branch looking up from the forest road in the evening. It looked plain, but the big eyes were cute. It moved to a higher treetop and was looking around. It didn't sing when I was observing, so I was lucky to find it by chance.
