An octopus with a body length of about 60 cm. It camouflages itself by changing its body color to a protective color that matches the surrounding rocks and seaweed. It takes almost no time for the body color to change, and it changes in an instant. The eyes are white with a horizontal black line running through them.
It has long arms and looks slender when swimming. When it senses danger, it squirts ink and runs away.
Inhabits rocky reefs and coral reefs. Gets into cracks and holes in rocks. It breeds in early summer, and the female takes care of the eggs.
Often seen on the reefs of Arasaki. Some individuals mimic rocks and are difficult to recognize, while others show suckers. If you try to pick it up for observation, it will spit out ink and desperately resist. The whole body is muscular and quite strong.
