A small snipe like the Tounen.
The back of the body is brown and the belly is white. The beak is black and there is a white eye ring around the eye.
The yellow to yellow-green legs are what distinguish it from the Tonen.
It visits wetlands, rice fields, rivers, etc. as a migratory bird along with the Tounen.
It preys on insects, annelids, and other animal matter near water.
I photographed an individual that flew to the Tama River midstream in autumn. Together with another Red-streaked Greyhound, it was wandering around the shallows, foraging.
It wasn't in a group, but seemed to be alone. It didn't seem to be very wary of humans.
