Characteristics
An insect of the ground beetle family with a beautiful green metallic luster. The upper wings are green to olive with margins and are longitudinally streaked. There are no vertical stripes on the chest, and the color is rather dark. The legs and chin are lead colored.Due to their degenerated wings, they can be seen walking on the ground. I am walking fairly quickly.
Ecology
Inhabit forests from flatlands to mountains. Adults can be seen from April to autumn. They eat small live animals such as arthropods and earthworms, as well as animal carcasses, while crawling on the ground. Some adults live for several years.
Habitat
I found it on the road near the forest in Kamikawacho, Hachioji City. There was morning dew on the upper wings, and the metallic luster was reflected in a more complicated way. It trotted across the concrete path and entered the woods again.
