Classification details | Araneae Salticidae |
Full length | about 5-8mm. |

Characteristics
The male and female jumping spider are very different in color. As the Japanese name suggests, the female's body color is pure white with fine brown patterns. The male is slightly larger than the female, and has a black body with white or bright yellow vertical lines. The male's legs appear to be slightly longer.
Ecology
It preys on insects and other creatures on leaves. Like other jumping spiders, it can move by jumping quickly. The male photographed was moving slowly on the leaves.
Habitat
Grass along the Nigaryo Irrigation Canal
The male and female were in different places, so I didn't realize they were the same species when I first photographed them.
The white of the female was particularly striking, and it looked quite noticeable when she was on the leaves. The male was larger and moved slowly.
