It is also called the Daimyo grasshopper.

Characteristics

Females can reach a total length of about 7cm. Males are slightly smaller than females.

There are green and brown individuals. There are brown spots on the front wings, but not on the back wings.

Antennae protrude from between the eyes, and there is a vertical pattern under the eyes.

Ecology

They live in places where grasses grow, such as riverbeds and grasslands. They feed on monocotyledonous plants.

They have strong flying power, and after jumping, they use their wings to travel long distances.

Habitat

Riverbed in the middle reaches of the Tama River

They can be commonly seen in the riverbed of the Tama River. The individual photographed was brown, and was mixed in with the stones on the riverbed. After a while, it climbed up onto the stones. Its hind legs were powerful and cool.
