Characteristics
Pale green Hesericho. It is the only Hensericho found in Japan that is green. The orange color at the end of the hind wings is accented and very beautiful. The orange part contains black dots, and appears to be paired with the head. The top half of the head is green, and the bottom of the mouth is orange.
Ecology
It can be seen in mountains and along streams, and is active around evening. Larvae feed on awabuki. It also competes with the green oak, but because the oak is larger, it cannot compete with it. It closes its wings when perched. It flies like other hensericho and flaps its wings short.
Habitat
Found along a stream in Minamiasagawa-cho, Hachioji City. It was absorbing water on the ground in the immediate vicinity of the oak. Even if it flew away for a while, it came back to the same place. The color of the wings, which changes color depending on the viewing angle, is very beautiful.
