Characteristics
It is lighter in color than the Japanese Thrush (Turdus eunomus), but its appearance is very similar. Its back is pale brown, and its chest is brick red. Its tail feathers are also light brown.
It is the same size as a Japanese Thrush, and it also shares a white eyebrow with the Japanese Thrush.
The color of its chest is distinctive, but if it is not in a bright place, it may be mistaken for a Japanese Thrush.
Ecology
It flies to Japan as a migratory bird or winter bird. Like the Japanese Thrush, it walks around the ground in forests, parks, grasslands, etc. to forage. It seems to be more cautious than the Japanese Thrush.
Habitat
Ishigaki Island in winter
I photographed an individual walking around a grassy field on Ishigaki Island in winter and foraging. At first glance, it appears to be the same size and shape as a thrush, but its overall color appears to be reddish-brown.
