Ecology

Inhabits coral reefs and lives in symbiosis with sea anemones. It eats small crustaceans and algae. They will intimidate you if they enter their territory. It also rushes and pecks at people who approach it when shooting.

Habitat

Ishigaki Island

I took this picture while swimming over sea anemones in a shallow coral reef. The female intimidated me and eventually bit my glove. The smaller individuals did not come out of the sea anemone.
