Characteristics
Males and females look different. The female has a light brown background with Japanese black vertical lines, and reddish brown dotted lines between the black lines. Males are yellow-green with vague vertical lines.
Ecology
Inhabits rocky reefs and sandy areas. They eat small animals such as crustaceans and shellfish. Adult fish are known to change sex, with adult females turning into males.
Habitat
Miura Peninsula Arasaki
Multicolorfin rainbowfish is relatively common in Arasaki. The individual photographed was foraging on the seafloor in shallow water. When the water depth comes out, large individuals can be seen.
