Ecology

Adults emerge around spring. They eat aphids.

The larvae also eat aphids and become adults about 20 days after hatching. When they become pupae, they look like orange deflated bags.

Habitat

Tama River riverbed

They were found in large numbers on the riverbed of the Tama River in spring. There were also some Seven Spotted Ladybird larvae around, but most of the adults were Seven Spotted Ladybirds. I tried to photograph the adults, but many of them flew away when I got to the tip of the leaf.
