Characteristics
A fish of the bryophyte family characterized by three (4) pairs of ocular epithelial flaps. The body is long and slender, with dark brown spots lined up on a light brown ground. Body color varies considerably from individual to individual. There is a rounded spot on the dorsal fin.
Although it was difficult to identify it, I judged it to be a moss ginkgo because the base of the pectoral fin was black.
Ecology
Found on reefs and tidal pools. Often only the face is sticking out of the hole. The individual I photographed came out of the hole as the tide began to recede. Open and close your mouth, roll your eyes.

I took a picture of the place where it came out to the tide pool. Ii had its mouth open and closed.
