Characteristics

A fish characterized by two yellow lines running above its eyes. The upper line is separated on the left and right like eyebrows, but the lower line passes through the forehead and connects on the left and right. The upper lip, eyes, and dorsal fin are gray, and the rest is white. There are two black streaks between gray and white. The dorsal fin is yellow anteriorly and black posteriorly. The anal fin is also black.

Ecology

Inhabits relatively shallow coral reefs and is often solitary. The individual in the photo was also swimming alone. It eats small benthic animals and small fish.

Habitat

Ishigaki Island

Found in coral reefs about 10m high. It was moving slowly alone. It stayed still near the bottom for a while, but when it approached, I took a picture. They don't seem to be that cautious.
