Characteristics

A small flower that blooms between leaves. The color of the five petals is light purple with a little blue in it. The color of the scales is the same color as the flowers. A similar cucumber has yellow scales. The name comes from the fact that the flower blooms between the leaves on the stem. The leaf surface has transparent hairs that taper towards the tip. Similar hairs are found on the stem and calyx.

Ecology

It blooms on the ground and is commonly seen on flat ground such as roadsides and forests. Flowers bloom from around March to around November and December.

Habitat

I photographed the place where it bloomed on the ground of the forest in Hachioji city. The pale small flowers and unexpectedly bristly leaves were interesting. The flower in the leaf I saw here did not have so many leaves growing around the flower. The buds, which had not yet bloomed, were pinkish.
