Characteristics
A saltwater fish with a yellow body and a light blue horizontal line. The Japanese name comes from its vivid color.
It is oval and flat. The photo shows a juvenile fish, but it has a color similar to that of the control fish.
Ecology
Adults are found on coral reefs. Young fish also come to shallow tidal pools.
eat algae, etc. The juvenile fish I photographed was pecking at a tetrapod.
Habitat
Niijima Maehama
Between the tetrapods, it was swimming alone among Oyavicha. It was about 5 cm long and was roaming about 20 cm below the surface of the water. It was beautiful with a light blue glow all the way to the edge of its body.
