Characteristics
A hawk with a body length of about 50cm. Its brown body is characterized by a white eyebrow. The female's eyebrow is more pronounced. The throat is white, but there is a black-brown vertical line in the middle. The female's abdomen has brown and white horizontal stripes. The hooked beak is yellow at the base and black at the tip. The iris and legs are yellow.
Ecology
They fly from Honshu to Kyushu as summer birds. After breeding, they start doing something in the fall, and form large flocks in the Nansei Islands, which they pass through. They prey on small animals and insects.
Habitat
Ishigaki Island
I found Grey-streaked Buzzards twice while looking for birds on my moped around Ishigaki Island.
The first time was in the afternoon forest near dusk, when the female was perched on a side branch. The first time, it was perched on top of a tree in an open area.
