Discovered in Komiyakoen Park, Hachiōji. A flock of about six birds was searching for food while moving back and forth between the trees and the ground. They were making small "Kyokyo" sounds. When viewed vertically, the chest area looked very plump. The body color is very similar to the Hawfinch, but it can be distinguished by the color of its head and beak.
Was foraging in the trees of Katakurajoshi Park, Hachiōji. I heard a "crackling" sound from inside the tree, and when I searched inside the branches, I found one Japanese Grosbeak. After waiting for a while, it came out to a sunny branch and ate tree nuts.
